The next Home Ownership Information Night will be Sept. 15, 2010 at 7:00pm. The address is 1740 Broder St., please use the administration door.
Here's how to own a Habitat home...
Each Habitat for Humanity affiliate chooses homeowners based on the same three criteria:
- The applicants' level of need
- Their willingness to become partners in the program
- Their ability to repay the non-profit, no-interest loan
Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.
The steps to apply for a home are:
- Attend a home ownership information night where you are provided all of the details of Habitat home ownership including an overview of Habitat, where Habitat is building and the sweat equity program.
- Prepare your application and mail it in. There are a lot of questions to answer and a lot of documents to copy and include in your application.
- Work with the Family Selection Committee (a volunteer committee) when and as they contact you.
Each application is kept in the strictest confidence. The application process is completed within three to four months from the time the application is received. Applicants can reapply yearly.
Home ownership information nights are hosted periodically. Upcoming dates will be posted at a later time. If you have any questions, please feel free to Contact Us.

We are blessed to have met Biak and his family. Originally from Burma, they came to Canada via a Cambodian refugee camp. Not an easy life, they have their own story. We are blessed to a part of that story which is ongoing, and a new chapter is now being written as they move into their new home. Saturday, March 13, they received the keys to what will be a decent, affordable, safe and new home which they own. Congratulations are in order.
