Conexus Credit Union and Habitat for Humanity Regina have partnered to help a low-income, hard-working Regina family achieve home ownership. Conexus is passionate about building community, as is Habitat for Humanity, making the partnership a perfect fit.  Conexus has provided funding to underwrite the cost of building the home which is located at 1037 Rae Street.

Dennis Coutts, CEO, Habitat for Humanity Regina said, “We are truly grateful for the support of Conexus and for their passion to build the community through their community investment fund. We have found much in common in striking this partnership. Key priorities for Conexus include Youth Development, Community Revitalization and Self-Reliance – all principles that Habitat for Humanity subscribes to as we build around the world and right here in Regina. ”

Habitat for Humanity supports Youth Development by providing opportunities to low-income families to achieve home-ownership. Studies show that children who are raised in family homes have better grades and are more-well-behaved in a stable environment. Habitat for Humanity Regina is deeply committed to Community Revitalization as we are specifically building in only Regina’s North Central area at this time with a goal of increasing the number of home owners living in the neighbourhood with a commitment to the betterment of the community as a whole. Self-Reliance is a goal for each family that is realized as they begin their journey of home-ownership.

“At Conexus, we care about the well being of our communities,” says Interim CEO of Conexus Credit Union, Ken Shaw. “We are happy to provide Habitat for Humanity Regina with $100,000 in funds to help a family’s dream of home ownership become a reality.”

The family is scheduled to move in to their new home in the spring of 2012.
